Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking

Welcome to the Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking course, where you will learn the essential skills and techniques for effectively solving problems and making sound decisions. Throughout this course, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the problem-solving process, including identifying and defining the problem, formulating a strategy, organizing information, allocating resources, monitoring progress, and evaluating results. You will also explore various techniques for effective problem-solving, such as brainstorming, mind mapping, the Five Whys Technique, Cause and Effect Analysis (Fishbone Diagrams), and SWOT Analysis.

In addition to problem-solving, this course will also focus on developing critical thinking skills. You will learn the critical thinking process, which involves identifying the problem or question, gathering information, analyzing and interpreting the information, developing and evaluating options, making decisions, and reflecting on the process and the result. Furthermore, you will explore techniques for effective critical thinking, including the RED Model (Recognize assumptions, Evaluate arguments, Draw conclusions), the STAR Model (Situation, Task, Action, Result), the Six Thinking Hats Model, and the Four-Step Process for Critical Thinking (Clarify, Assess, Infer, Decide). Throughout the course, you will also examine the role of critical thinking in problem-solving, as well as how it can improve the decision-making process, enhance creativity and innovation, facilitate conflict resolution, and ultimately enhance productivity and efficiency.
